The Taittinger UK Sommelier of the Year competition recognises the very finest talent in wine service. Organised by The Caterer, in partnership with the Academy of Food and Wine Service, the event is open to professional sommeliers working in the UK.

Romain Bourger was named the winner of the 2019 competition having excelled in the live tasks in front of an audience of wine industry leaders, the Vineyard in Stockcross Head Sommelier won, having beaten Gareth Ferreira and Alan Bednarski in a closely fought contest.  To read more Click here

Widely regarded as the premier accolade in UK wine service, past winners include some of the industry’s leading lights when it comes to wine knowledge, including Nicolas Clerc, Ronan Sayburn and Xavier Rousset. Candidates are judged on their wine and drink expertise as well as their ability to deal efficiently and knowledgeably with customers by demonstrating exemplary front of house skills.
