Having completed his training in the Loire Valley, Dimitri moved to the UK in 1996 working as a Sommelier at Raymond Blanc’s prestigious two Michelin star restaurant and hotel, le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons near Oxford.
In 1998, Dimitri joined the Hotel du Vin Group as Head Sommelier in Tunbridge Wells before moving on to their head office in 2005 as Group Food & Beverage Manager for the entire Hotel du Vin Group. Leading a team of over 40 sommeliers across 14 boutique hotels, he gained a rich and broad experience working under the mentorship of Henri Chapon (MS) & Gerard Basset (MS, MW & World’s Best Sommelier 2010). Regularly hosting wine dinners with some of the world’s most renowned wine makers, Dimitri also pioneered the popular Ecole du Vin wine school.
In 2008, his career led him to Jackson Family Wines where he joined as the European Prestige Account Manager. In 2013, he was promoted to his current position as International Brand Ambassador for Jackson Family Wines, continuing his previous role on a global scale with particular focus on Asia.
His extensive knowledge and travel to most of the world’s major winemaking regions, enabled Dimitri to pass the notoriously difficult Court of Master Sommelier’s Diploma examination in 2003. He has played an active role in the organisation ever since and is honoured to have held the position of Chairman for the European Court of Master Sommeliers since 2009.
Dimitri is a regular panelist and judge for various wine and Sommelier competitions around the world such as the Chaine des Rotisseurs and Decanter Magazine’s World Wine Awards. Always keen to share his knowledge and experience he is always proud to mentor and prepare his friends and colleagues for their endeavours in the Sommelier world.
