Bryan Dawes M.S Education Chair, Court of Master Sommeliers, Europe. UK Sommelier of the year in 1983, Master Sommelier Diploma in 1985. For many years Bryan has been a Director of the Court of Master Sommeliers and is currently the Chair of the Education Committee responsible for developing qualifications and ensuring the levels of education and examination are maintained wherever the qualifications are administered.
Originally trained as a chef at the Dorchester, London, Bryan then moved to Switzerland for many years. He then moved into Hospitality Education in both kitchen and front of house becoming head of the department at South Cheshire College until retiring in 2008 with 34 years’ experience.
Bryan is a member of the Global Master Sommelier Board, set up between the European and American chapters to oversee the qualifications internationally, training with the Consejo Regulador Sherry to become a certified Sherry Educator.
He has worked closely with the Chaine de RĂ´tisseurs as a Judge since the introduction of the award of Jeune Sommmelier eleven years ago.
