Tanguy Martin started his interested for wine at 17 moving from Lyon to Beaune and Montpellier to study oenology and viticulture. After passing his diploma in 2010, he moved to England to start his career as sommelier in the New Forest with Gerard Basset OBE. In 2013 he reached the position of Head Sommelier which was held until then by Laura Rhys MS. Under the wing of Gerard, Martin won the Young UK Sommelier of the Year 2014 and then the Moet & Chandon UK Sommelier of the Year 2015.
After this, it was time for Martin to join London, he took the position of Head Sommelier at La Trompettte (Chiswick - 1 Michelin Star Restaurant). During this two years at La Trompetter, he passed his Advanced Level of The Court of Master Sommelier exam. Since August 2017 Martin has held the position of Wine Manager for The Old Bengal Warehouse - D&D London. Here he overlooked the wine selection for New Street Wine, New Street Grill and two other sites. The different organisations and profiles of sites allowed him to drive different types of wine list, atmospheres and wine approaches. Passionate and dedicated, Martin is always looking for a new adventure and new challenges.
